• DON'T BE A JERK! It's pretty simple- treat others as you would want to be treated. Everyone's here for one reason: fun. And it's very hard to have fun/write when there's someone who's constantly killing the mood. If you do have an issue with someone and feel angry or frustrated, talk to staff first, and we'll see if we can help you fix it.

• KEEP IT PG-13 GUYS, for the site's sake. We don't want to break any of PB's rules. Using trigger warnings helps in some cases (for character/pokemon/even NPC deaths, or mentions of blood/violence, etc) but nothing too graphic and nothing sexual. Everyone likes kisses. No one likes to have a site shut down. Fade to black, or take it to Skype. Swearing is allowed to an extent, just don't go overboard. Usually OOC swearing isn't necessary- try refraining from cussing in the cbox or OOC boards. IC, sometimes it is useful- as long as you take it easy.

• GAME CANON IS IN PLAY, so please, don't mention any anime/manga exclusive events. The game is canon here. If you want to know about the timeline, the link is here. If you have any further questions, you can PM a staff member and we'll clear it up for you.

• THIRD PERSON. Whether it's an application, a thread, a c-gear message- anything in character- it must be in third person. The tense of your posts is up to you. Whatever you deem best, but make sure it's okay with your thread partner too, because having two different tenses is very confusing. (I know sometimes second tense is used for dramatic effect. This is okay, but don't use it obsessively. The rule basically means: No first person.)

• THERE IS NO WORD COUNT. Here at Hiraeth, we believe that quality > quantity. However, don't post one liners or anything similar, because that doesn't give your thread partner(s) much to work with. After a few posts, you'll get in the groove.

• GRAMMAR, please. We don't want to have to tell you that your grammar isn't acceptable. If you're not very good with grammar in general, just take an extra minute and spell check your post. Cbox talk (eg. "lol," "probs," "tbh," "bc") in posts is not preferred, and with many people, not acceptable.

• WATCH YOUR ICONS AND SIGNATURES. Keep them in check, please. You must use 100x100 icons. For signatures, you may use whatever you wish, as long as it doesn't stretch the board. If your signature does stretch the board, we will remove it and notify you right away.

• NO MARY SUES/GARY STUS. Nobody is perfect. In fact, people are usually far from it. Make sure your character has real flaws, and not just "too kind," or "too strong." No one likes to thread with perfect characters, and chances are we will reject any app that we deem a Mary Sue/Gary Stu.

• NO GODMODDING OR POWERPLAYING, period. You control your character, and your character only, unless you have permission from another character's player. This is also includes: having your character know things they should not know/are secrets, giving your character abilities which they cannot have, and determining whether or not punches/attacks hit on other characters or pokemon.

• YOU MAY BEGIN WITH 8 POKEMON, six in a character's party, the other two in the PC. Three of them may be rare. Canons may have up to 2 additional rares, if they are in-game rares. ie, Red may start with 5 rares (as he has a Charizard and an Espeon in Pokemon Crystal). Diamond may have 4 rares, as he has one canon rare in game (Torterra).

• MOVESETS are simple. All Pokemon start out with four moves. One of these moves may be a TM/HM/egg/tutor move. Additional TMs/tutor moves can be bought in the shop.

• FACE CLAIMS- we use animanga style artwork. Face claims from video games work as well, as long as you are using animanga artwork/icons. No face claims from movies or TV shows.

• ALL CHARACTERS ARE PART OF AN IDEOLOGY. Doesn't matter if they're part of Kopec, Boure, or Zemina- but they must choose a side. There are no exceptions. If you want to make a character who is unsure of who to fight for, make them a part of Kopec for the time being. Alliances can be changed, as long as you have an IC reason to switch. Once you have swapped once, you may not change ideologies again.

• MAKE SURE TO CREATE A PC for any character you create. Whether they have one pokemon, two pokemon, or eight, it makes it much, much easier to keep track of things.

• UP TO 24 POKEMON (which is four full teams) are allowed. Once you hit 24, you must release one to get another. Four months ago, a message from Zemina appeared in all Pokemon Centers, stating they are limiting the pokemon allotted because of future maintenance. Anyone against Zemina is well aware that it's not because work is being done, it's to limit the pokemon of enemies.

• GO EASY ON CANONS Original characters are just as important. I cannot stress this enough. You can play one "main" canon, and there's no limit to the smaller ones, but we will tell you if we think you're going overboard.
