While Johto is a rather quiet and isolated village, Goldenrod breaks the mold in many ways. It is a tourist hotspot, the largest shopping district in Johto, and home to a massive radio tower. Shipments from Kanto and rebels from Kanto come in equal numbers to this miniature metropolis. Rumor has it that at midnight abandoned radio wavelengths come back to life, spreading Boure's propaganda over once dead channels.
