▶ HISTORY:
We'll start off when he was just a boy, he's lived in Aspertia City his whole life and he lived with his mom, dad and grandfather and it was a kind and caring family, loving and simply put wonderful but something was missing. When his little sister was born Hugh showed signs right away of being a protective and caring big brother who was always there for his little sister. He made no fuse about playing with her, he was always right there when she cried and even attempted to carry her around the house a few times, though he wasn't too great at holding a baby, as he's never done it before in his life! But things were looking fine, his grandfather had even gotten both Hugh and his little sister a Pokemon, him one of the Unova starters as he was nine years old and would be allowed to start his journey soon and his little sister got a Purrloin.
It was against the rules to go out into the tall grass outside of their home town, but they did anyway with Hugh having his chest puffed out and claiming he was strong and would defeat anyone in their way. Some say they were in the wrong place at the wrong time, with Team Plasma being chased around Unova by a few kids they stumbled upon the small island area outside of the mainland and on two little kids, playing Pokemon Trainer. As he promised Hugh tried to defeat them, but he didn't know how to battle and was easily defeated, Purrloin was taken, his sister was in a wreck, Hugh knew the meaning of guilt and rage that day and it fed on him like a parasite while he sat in the house for years afterwords and hated Team Plasma, hated himself, and hated the weakness he had inside of him. There was so much anger and hatred inside of such a little boy that he changed, became obsessed with becoming the strongest, he stayed home to train up his partner Pokemon and promised his sister that he would fight to get Purrloin back.
Cue the Game storyline, he travels across the region, fighting bad guys and searching for the Purrloin and when he finds his sisters old Pokemon it is as unrecognizable as he is. Desperate and angry, hateful and full of spite. Purrloin was now a Liepard, it was the very reflection of himself and it took a lot of coaxing and understanding and so much pain, the Liepard was vicious and where her claws dug into his skin still are scarred to this day. It took a year of constant rehabilitating, a year of undoing the damage done but it was worth it, seeing his sister and Liepard reunited again. Hugh thought he had changed, thought the anger had died down.
When the war started he felt the familiar hatred inside of him and almost welcomed it back, he wanted to push it away but he felt to close to the cause and could understand why the world was so much in rage. He joined in the battles, fought for freedom and a good cause. He was determined to see this war through.
