First and foremost, Brooke is a dedicated insurgent for Boure. On the side she may take on odd-jobs to give herself the money and supplies she needs to survive, but without having anyone else to depend on financially for years, Brooke has become incredibly independent.

▶ HISTORY:
Pressured into a difficult lifestyle from a young age, Brooke spent her youth deprived of the many things she truly wanted. Two unfitting parents who took their lackluster financial and relationship issues out on their daughter, and a home that never really knew the meaning of the word. Originally her family lived in Oreburgh City, though during the first seven years they'd spent there, all Brooke could recall was strife and sadness. They ever only had enough to get by, just barely, and that was never enough for them.
As she grew up, Brooke had been convinced by her parents that she deserved nothing, and her burden on the family was all they wanted to be free of. Times got harder as the years passed, but despite Brooke's best efforts to try and keep herself together, the family as she knew it broke apart and decided to move on without her. Overnight she became homeless, the couple packed up what little they had and left their daughter behind in search of a better life with no thoughts of ever returning.
Shocked and broken-down, Brooke became an orphan in her own right, changing her last name and being taken in by an older couple that retired and moved away to live in Eterna City. As Brooke's heart began to heal from the damage she suffered for all those years, she closed herself off from others and began training to capture pokemon and strengthen herself in the process. Although the couple was kind enough to give Brooke a place to stay and all she needed to survive, once she reached the age of ten she left their home for good and started off on her own.
It was difficult in the beginning, but she managed to catch her first pokemon, Zane, who became her only friend and ally. After that, she wasn't alone, and she had someone to share her time with as she promised to become stronger. Shortly after capturing her second pokemon, Seige, the trio arrived in Canalave City where Brooke found her first job helping out around the docks with the many shipwrights passing through the area day-to-day.
She taught herself how to fight, sparred with her pokemon as they became a unified team that would dare to become stronger after each battle. As time went on and the war became more apparent to everyone living within the port city and all who visited, Brooke became interested in the Boure movement and aspired to fight for the cause. She was given a torchic one year by the captain of a crew she met for her christmas, and after that began to understand what it meant to be humble.
Five years of living and working in Canalave, Brooke departed from the city with the money she'd saved and devoted herself to working for Boure as an Insurgent. For the last few years she's grown stronger along with her pokemon, assembling a team of fearsome fighters that she cares about more than anything. They're her friends and the only souls she can trust with her life, whom they would be willing to put their lives on the line for in return no matter what.
Despite her physical strength and new-found willpower, Brooke is still tormented by her losses and suffers from emotional stress on an almost daily basis. She hates her parents for what they did, has encased herself in a shell and refuses to lay trust in anyone but her pokemon. Fighting helps her deal with the pent-up anger she's had eating away at her for years, but without fighting for Boure's cause she has absolutely nothing. That thought itself terrifies her into striving to stay useful.
