friends

red has all the reason to make friends, though perhaps he's a bit too passive to actively do so. although his social skills may need some work, he certainly can't be blamed for not trying, doing his best to seem helpful in the midst of the on going war. as part of kopec, he takes no sides, simply going with what his gut tells him to, and helping whomever it seems has the better ideology. perhaps some time in the future, his allegiance might sway to one power or the other.

enemies

considering his choice for neutrality, red believes that perhaps things can be fixed through civil means. however, as his past has dictated, he has long since learned that strength above all is a moving factor for people. it's not as if he doesn't have enemies, he's fairly sure that anyone from rocket would have some hard feelings against him. to red, however, the boiling pit of rage and fury is something he does not want to feel, thus tries his best not to be affected by what other people might throw at him.

lovers

the boy is asexual. which means he does not care much for the opposite sex, or even same sex. love is an indefinable term for red, no amount of explanation will sway his mind from it. though he may understand the concept behind it, he doesn't necessarily believe it to be true. perhaps if he wasn't so lost with himself, he could find it in him to be lost with someone else.

iunno, i really see them being similar. they're both kopec, they both think that the war can be fixed without violence, and they're both former champions. the differences will only make a friendship/acquaintances stronger, i think -- where red's passive and comfortable in the background, cynthia loves talking with people and will definitely try to engage him in conversations. in social settings i can see cynthia kinda being his buffer, and she might even start following him around just because she thinks he's interesting.

can you feel the feels tonight i don't... quite think they'll head down the romance territory, though -- just comfortable friends and maybe even discussion partners. thoughts? <3

Oh man. I kinda love the idea that Cynthia's going to be there for Red. Red probably would've asked to a battle Cynthia before anything less formal can happen and then from then on I'm torn between between the concept of them just hanging out with one another, or if Red purposely visits Cynthia and vice versa just cos. Would it be pushing it perhaps if Red saw Cynthia as a sort of mother figure? Then again Red's perception of a mother is too vague that he might end up projecting it onto Cynthia.

Yay for hermits lol. I can imagine their meetings to have a calming sort of silence though, exchanging what news they have and debating whether or not they should do something. The two champions who disappeared.

if cynthia and red battled i honestly can't tell who'd win tbh because as strong as red is cynthia is one stubborn woman. after that though i think they'd do a bit of both?? like, hang around and mysteriously find reasons to crash each other's hotel rooms/what have you and just happen to have wandered into the same city when they'd been regions apart before lmao. cynthia would totally do this to check up on him btw or even travel with him entirely.

the mother figure thing miiightt work out tbh because cynthia's the mothering sort, although she'd actively try not to replace red's actual mother. also YES CHAMPION BONDING TALK. cynthia up and left after resigning and giving her position to game canon winner, so she's hiding from the press trying to keep her head down even in her mythology hunts. actually now that i think about it cynthia'd totally drag him around to see sinnoh's ruins or whatever.

where in the timeline do you want them to meet + under what conditions? like, would this trip be after they somewhat know each other, would it be now two years into the war, would it be a flashback thread, etc.? personally i think present-time would be cool, and they're -just now- able to head to the ruins for exploration. ALSO REINTRODUCING TO THE WORLD YES tbh shed probably start with the c-gear just so she can track him through it if they ever were to separate lmao

Current is great! Maybe just a small amount of familiarity, just so that they're not that awkward with one another and Cynthia understands that the silence is just because Red really doesn't have much to say. Also, we could just say that the battle has happened as when the eyes of two trainers meet and they end up with a double k.o. and then they come to the agreement that 'yeah, your pretty great' and make plans for next time, and this is one of those next time plans?

Uh yo so I don't know what I don't know where and I don't know how but we should see each other and I should punch you in the face for not visiting me after you got off ur damned mountain.

Blue. #brofist red owes a lot of sorrys now a days. BUT DUDE. YOU COULD HAVE COME VISIT ME TOO. I WROTE YOU LETTERS. can they just fight about this and try to guilt each other about it? And maybe have a short battle for old times sakes, and talk some. Or more like, blue talks about the stuff he's done and red listens and occasionally talks about snow.

RED I think that would be pretty dope where they just throw around their pokemon for old times sake and reminisce about when things were simple. They could like go for coffee afterwards or maybe even we could do a mission together sometime. YO COULD THAT HAVE BEEN A THING they were heavy pen-pals and in their letters they'd argue about who comes to visit, and they could laugh and reminisce over the letters. I could see Blue trying to help Red get more reacquainted with like society as a whole, very covertly without bringing him into the spotlight so to speak. but a good catching up thread would be cool where would you like to have it? I don't wanna do it in Pallet or Viridian cause there's nothing there but any other place I'm game.

RED I have this weird headcannon where Lyra went to challenge Red back in his Mt. Silver days and, afterward, refused to leave for a while because she thought he seemed too lonely and she wanted to cheer him up (because she's like that). She probably annoyed the piss outta him at first. He might have told her to leave and she refused and set up her stuff near him. I imagine her staying for a week or two and sort of growing on him after a while, becoming a friend...and them possibly talking or getting together from time to time after that (though perhaps they haven't for a while now. maybe she lost his number after her pokegear went wonky and he never calls). Thoughts?

Blue. that's perf. exchange letters so much, bring the letters and gripe at each other's grammar, np. i'm looking through kanto because kanto is the best and maybe lavender? oh man, is this the canon where blue's raticate dies bcos of red and red's still guilty about it all these years? unf the angst they be at lavender, having coffee and laughing about how easy it was when it was just rocket and not a whole bunch of gym leaders and other kids. when it was easy to tell who were the bad guys because they wore uniforms and everything. sounds pretty good. we just have to finalize the place and we're ready to go.

lyra. oh man, i can just imagine that when the battle is over and he expects her to leave him alone just like gold, only to find her still there. red would be huffing up a storm but not really say anything except go about his business which is actually nothing at all while she chats away. eventually, he'd probably let her into his cabin since he's not that heartless and also he's starting to pity her when she starts shivering because of the cold. aaahhh, i love it. could he have some feelings for her? or like, feel very comfortable with her? ;w;

RED i could totally imagine her just sitting there shivering as she waited for him to let her in because she thinks he has kind eyes or sees how he treats his pokemon or something, so she knows he'll let her in eventually. persistence is totally something she excels at. I could also see her telling him stupid jokes to make him laugh and disappearing occasionally to find little trinkets to make the cabin feel more like home. it would be super adorable if he had a thing for her. she probably enjoys his company quite a lot (he's probably one of the few people who would just sit and listen to her without interjecting, and that means a lot), but she wouldn't think anything of it because he hasn't talked to her in ages...so he's probably forgotten about her, right? (lyra is forever worrying that people are going to leave her behind and/or forget about her). of course, she wants to talk to him, she misses him, but she lost his number and he's really really good at making himself hard to find, not to mention the fact that she's stuck helping her grandfather, so she only gets to travel when she's delivering eggs. yes/no?
