i don't like walking around this old and empty house
so hold my hand, i'll walk with you my dear
the stairs creak as I sleep, it's keeping me awake
it's the house telling you to close your eyes
And some days I can't even trust myself
Three days of back to back meetings, sleep deprivation and paper work, Elijah would like to think that he's earned a good nights rest and an eleven am wakeup call but the fates weren't so kind. His secretary just had to remind him of the charity ball for the night. He was grateful that she had decided to inform him after his coffee, a daily luxury he indulged himself with, but only by a small margin. A man can only take so much work before inevitably collapsing. It was just his luck that tonight couldn't be missed either, a renewal contract needed a little nudge in the right direction and a ball like this was just the perfect opportunity to do so.
There was the matter of clothing and company. Clothing was simple, he'd only need to have one of his suits ready for the event but as for who to bring... He needed someone who could make him look intimidating, because frankly he wasn't up to par on his game for today. Rather, an eye-catching partner to make everyone stutter and nervous until all he needed to do nudge them into the general direction he wanted. With that idea in mind, he sent a voicemail with the request and details of the event, black tie, evening dress, and went along with another tiring day.
It was to his surprise and chagrin that she accepted.
And somehow that was how he ended up in Lilycove, dressed well for the occasion in his dark blue notched lapel with matching trousers and white collared shirt on the inside, in the back of a car with the lovely Sophia beside him. He'd gone quiet for the last few minutes, in a hopeless attempt to catch a bit of shut eye before the event but sooner than later they had reached the contest hall that had been meekly converted into a proper banquet hall for the occasion. He had an inkling that there would be a performance later on, perhaps a pokemon or two for good measure. He manages to hold in a yawn as the door is opened for them.
Elijah gets out first, and turns around to appear a gentleman, smile already in place as he holds out his hand for her to take.
