ruby is now too cool to be arriving to mossdeep by surf or fly. that is to say, he's riding the wind on zed's magnet rise. that is to say, the metagross is enjoying a sort of homecoming of its own. he had never wanted the beldum at first, but that was before he had realized that this particular psychic pokemon was not one that was able to process human brainpower beyond a telekinetic level. everything, even its psychic abilities were powered by magnetism. and that made zed okay by him. that, and it had tanked archie's sharpedo for him more than a few times. zed hums in contentment as they reach land. "eeeeeeeeeyyyyy, mossdeep!" he bellows into the wind. unfortunately, he's not about to get the homecoming that he got several years ago. y'know, back when he actually saved the region. "keep it quiet out there!" an elderly voice answers and a metal can comes flying ruby's way. zed punches it away with a power up punch and it goes flying, flying-- only to end in the sound of breaking glass. is that the gym? ruby thinks that's the gym. oops. tate & liza

why does this always happen on her duty days? tate is out with orion, probably, with libra in a pokeball on his belt should a challenger arrive (not that there were any, anymore -- the league had more important things to worry about than to cater to the whims of ambitious preteens), which left liza meditating in the gym.

her legs are crossed in the lotus, and she's currently hovering a few inches above the padded floor of the training room when she hears a crash -- and she promptly drops out of the air to land on her rear end. with a muffled swear, she steps on the teleportation pad that brings her out of the room and to the entrance of the gym.

she sees a boy on a metagross and is about to blow up at tate when she realizes her brother's mind is across the ocean, probably still frolicking at the summit of mount pyre. liza storms forward, her lips firmly pressed together in a thin line.

the girl almost doesn't recognize the presence.

"sorry?" he steps off of his metagross and smiles up at liza. "psychics could repair that with sheer willpower, right? no need to pretend that you're like the rest of us mere mortals." ruby pats the metagross with a clangclang. "i thought i'd give zed a homecoming." he shakes his head. "i hatched him on the hoenn mainland, and you'd think that would be enough. but nooooo, he wanted to see the place where his egg came from. funny how that works, isn't it? professor birch called it a 'diaspora identity'". something like feeling a connection to the land of origin, regardless of where one was born. ruby thought that it was rubbish, personally - he had always been glad to leave johto. but he supposes that would leave him in the minority. "but i don't suppose you'd really understand something like that, huh?" the twins' contact information was still listed in ruby's pokenav as 'hermit 1' and 'hermit 2'. leaving mossdeep must feel more like a field trip than anything else he looks at the gym leader curiously before continuing without prompting. "i don't suppose that you would know of a place called faraway island, would you?" by no means were the twins absolute experts on everything that had to do with psychic pokemon - not when they had so rarely left the region - but the island is a regional locale, at the very least. tate & liza
