treasure hunter -- having given up competing seriously, steven has come to spend a great deal of time searching for rare stones in the six mainland regions of world. while kanto, johto, hoenn, and sinnoh have hardly been exempt from his explorations, he's taken the liberty of turning his sights on the unova region and the kalos region in hopes of finding more rare stones.. and more specifically, discovering the secrets of mega evolution.
kopec -- while he's fairly aware of the war brewing at large, steven has opted out of a choosing a warring side hence his disposition amongst kopec. he's thought about taking a rank to ensure peace throughout the pokémon world, but as of yet he does not feel the need to pursue this and has instead continued to focus on his own goals. he only offers his services to kopec as a simple agent in times of serious need.

▶ HISTORY:
35 YEARS PRIOR: JUST AS I AM
• steven was born to a socialiate mother, and a man who -- at the time -- was only on the cusp of becoming a prominent and wealthy business man.. mr. stone, owner of the devon corporation.
• a great deal of steven's raising from birth was priviledged. he spent the better part of his childhood being educated from home, secluded from the world, and ultimately primed to be an heir.
• before he'd ever had a chance to truly recognize her, his mother passed away due to an unsuspecting accident with a hoarde of wild pokémon and her tenacity to keep steven safe from the threat.
• this left steven in the care of his father who had all but invested all of his time into the corporation in which he was building, paving the foundation to the start of a dynamic relationship between the two.
30 YEARS PRIOR: INVISIBLE LIFE
• growing up and being unsocialized, steven had a tough time sharing and having fun with other children when he was placed in those environments. this erected a social barrier that was nigh unbreakable.
• in his earlier childhood, mr. stone immersed steven into a world pokémon. because the devon corporation catered to pokémon lovers, he wanted his son to understand the pokémon world as a whole. as a boy, all that steven had known was pokémon. they had become his only friend, particularly a tiny beldum he became inseperable with.
• in some ways, the beldum -- whom was properly named JARVIS -- became something of a computerized 'nanny' figure in steven's life. constantly protecting him, keeping him out of trouble, and being an overall fiend as steven lacked them.
• this caused him to become something of a recluse. the more he aged, he realized that there were people who thought different of him. this was what sparked his desire for competitive battling.
• upon understanding his son's desire to become a great pokémon trainer, mr. stone began to engage his son in studies more centered towards pokémon training.
22 YEARS PRIOR: A NOT SO NORMAL LIFE
• at thirteen, steven started his pokémon journey with jarvis -- his ever loyal, and newly evolved metang.
• his journey helped him find himself as a young boy growing into a man. he managed to face many new challenges all alone and often times with strangers. this is what broke the social barrier erected around him.
• it was during this time frame that he also discovered a distinctive love for steel type pokémon. with jarvis, this helped him develop his niche in battles and with time became noteworthy because of this niche.
• as time would have it, he eventually worked his way throughout the obsticles of his journey.. culminating to a now youthful man taking the reigns of hoenn's championship title.
15 YEARS PRIOR: AND THIS TOO SHALL PASS
• as the champion of hoenn, steven managed to make a name for not only himself but his father's company as well -- the devon corporation. his status as heir was further solidified.
• it was during this time that he met a pair of young trainers that he managed to take a keen liking to.. the two went by the name of ruby and sapphire.
• over the course of his journey as champion, steven's bond grew stronger to the two adventuring trainers. throughout their journey he became a stable, providing them not only information about the pokémon world around them, but helping them to grow stronger as trainers through a multitude of battles.
• as a guiding figure, steven was there to provide an arm and a leg of support when the ancient pokémon groundon and kyogre were endangered by the villainous team magma and team aqua.
8 YEARS PRIOR: FALLING HARD
• after things settled, and steven relinquished his championship title, he decided to take to the roads of the pokémon world -- visiting other regions and learning about the mysterious stones offered in each.
• sinnoh became the focus of his journey. his entire purpose was to keep quiet about his exploitations. he held no desire to be in the limelight.
• during his travels in sinnoh, he stayed primarily in the resort area in a villa that he eventually came to sell to young native of the region.
• deciding that the twin archipelago regions would be his next stop, upon leaving sinnoh, steven became privvy to a small bout of information detailing talks of uncertainty and safety from pokémon league.
2 YEARS PRIOR: DIVIDED BY NIGHT
• having spent the majority of his travels exploring many of the mainland regions, upon bringing his journey throughout the unova region to an end with the championship tournament, steven returned home to the hoenn region.
• upon reuniting with his father, steven noticed immeidately the difference in his senior's attitude. the manner in which he was running the devon corporation had all but changed.
• perhaps attributing it to age, steven offered to remain in hoenn and officially take the reigns off of his father's hands.. but this led to a minor dispute between father and son which left their relationship somewhat tarnished.
• the wedge between them had finally grown and reached its peak upon steven's discovery of the developing radical groups throughout the hoenn region.
10 MONTHS PRIOR: ECHOES
• war was on the horizon, but steven would not chose a side. his place was not to dictate, but instead he wished to preserve the pokémon world and keep the living creatures that surrounded them safe.
• upon realizing that there was a side that was dedicated to this, kopec as they were called, steven chose to align himself to those that rebelled against the war... albeit with some reluctance in 'having a side'.
• the bonds that he shared with his father, the communication, and his title of heir was then suddenly ripped away from him. all assets pulled. mr. stone had chosen a side, but it wasn't on the side of kopec.
• with mr. stone and the devon corporation siding with zemina and the pokémon league, this left steven with an enemy that he never thought he'd come to have.. his father, and their business.
3 MONTHS PRIOR: WICKED GAMES
• with numbers in kopec developing further, steven decided to depart from hoenn once again in order to travel to the kalos region. his interest? discovering the secrets of mega evolution and mega stones.
• feeling as if this knowledge could benefit the cause of kopec, he has spent the last three months there doing research undercover and looking for answers beneath the noses of the pokémon league.
• having become furthermore hardened by the bouts of disorder that had risen up throughout the world, steven managed to pull himself into a reclusive state to focus on his more personal goals of restructuring and rebuilding the pokémon world to what it once was.
