champion. As the champion of Hoenn, Wallace is the last challenge for many aspiring Pokemon Masters in the region. His defeat signifies the rise of another powerful force in the trainers' world; however, due to the war and recent reforms, the League asks a different job from Wallace. Wallace is a political man. He seems obedient and cooperative but he has his way with words.
citizen. The League isn't happy with Wallace's less active, front line role, but he's given them his reasons. He has "a very weak constitution" unless it involves "beautiful, inspiring things." More importantly, he wishes to continue observing Hoenn's three legendary Pokemon should they wake up again and be used for war. The League isn't buying it completely but there's nothing more that they can do.

▶ HISTORY:
Wallace was born in Mossdeep where he had a brother ten years older than him. He had a happy childhood of being doted on by his parents and sibling. As if the attention hadn't been enough, Wallace sought out many friends in others. He was very sociable and was often a teacher to his classmates. He was bright, cheerful, and polite, an easy favorite for adults. His family glowed each time they hear compliments to their young Wallace.
At 16, Wallace sought to become more independent but it became clear that his parents were overprotective of him. He decided to prove himself by winning in a marathon. Being vouched for by his teammates, Wallace was allowed to go on his Pokemon journey. Although very late, many of his friends having already gone ahead, Wallace did not let it slow him down.
It was a tough road for Wallace. Having had a sheltered life in Mossdeep, he went through a brief culture shock. Many trainers were not as open-minded. They were all engaged in winning even if it meant resorting to brutality and cheating. Wallace remained steadfast in what he thought was an honourable fight, but he occasionally enjoyed exacting vengeance from behind-the-scenes. Wallace made friends and connections. He was that popular guy no one wanted to mess with.
At 19, Wallace was already working for the League. He led in trainer seminars, joined its events, helped in various organization work. Eventually, his interest in Hoenn and its history led him to engaging in research. Although smart, Wallace never thought of himself as an intelligent person who would study relics and read stacks of paper. But it happened, his life coming in a circle, and he was quite happy.
Wallace became Sootopolis' Gym Leader at 25, inheriting it from his master, Juan, a Water-type specialist who he studied under for years while studying the secrets of the Cave of Origin. He failed in his role as guardian of the Cave when Team Magma and Aqua were able to revive Groudon and Kyogre, but he was helped by two trainers and the champion, Steven Stone, a familiar face from Mossdeep and a man whom he had previously worked with before.
When Steven resigned from being a Champion, Wallace laughed - Did that man not think Wallace could beat him? He would make sure to get a true Champion's match with him someday. Wallace took on the mantle with pride.
Wallace was aware of the growing troubles in the Pokemon League. He appeared in other regions to "seek inspiration" but it seems like he's met with certain people whom he'd kept contact with. When tensions broke out two years ago, Wallace continued to play his role, all the while hiding an agenda in the background.
