nanami is an amnesiac who woke up in a field with a full belt of pokemon and a folded up note that read,

honestly she has no idea what that's even about. she had used the note to blow her nose at some point and kept walking north until she stumbled upon human civilization.
the pokemon that she had kept with her had proved to be a bigger problem. all of them seemed battle-hardened and scarred both physically and mentally. a few of them had even seemed uneasy around her. nevertheless, nanami remembers their abilities and the best ways to command them. it seemed reasonable to assume that they were in fact hers.
none of this really fazed her. if she couldn't remember anything then there's nothing that she can do about it. she feels no loss for having no memory, no longing for any family or friends. this is alright, isn't it?
she collects information at an inn. nobody recognizes her, and nanami didn't really expect anyone to. she meets a woman who's come back from a war and about to go off to fight some more. as far as a guardian figure went, nanami probably could have done a lot better. she could also have done worse. she's alive, and the mercenary keeps her alive. nanami is no slouch in battle; she's at least as competent as an elite four. but sometimes it's foraging for food or finding shelter that's harder. whoever she had been in the past, she doesn't think that she had been a hiker.
but she can always learn, she thinks as she scrapes out a new set of tracks with her boots.
nanami had caught a jigglypuff and shedinja during her journey with svet. she has a fascination with pokemon of strange origins.
