Leaf lived a very lonely, almost isolationist life up until fairly recently. She was the invisible girl of Pallet Town, and it meant she didn't really make many friends as she did her best to try and keep up with her childhood pals. She mad allies and acquaintances through fighting the good fight against Team Rocket, but most of them have faded or the members have died.

Now older, Leaf is still pretty bad with people. While she can rile up a crowd with buzzwords and passionate retelling of her life, on a one-to-one level she's really awkward. This is in part due to fierce paranoia over the idea of being betrayed and knocked off her pedestal, and in part due to the fact that for most of her life her only true friends have been pokemon. Still, once you're past the nervousness and awkward hellos you can find a pretty nice girl with a good head on her shoulders.

If you have almost anything to do with the League get out of her face. She finds the league reprehensible and has very little tolerance for it and it's bs. Moving on from that though, if you're really anti Boure, this girl is basically the face of it in Kanto. She's the rally leader, the propaganda pusher, the loud-mouthed speaker.

Leaf also isn't great at dealing with competition. When she's beat it makes her upset to a ridiculous degree since she views it as a direct hit to her reputation and the identity she's only recently discovered. If you've beat her at anything important in the past there's gonna be trouble. She's also really paranoid and kind of invasive as a result, if that's not your cup of tea she won't be. Also also she just kind of says and does things, so she can say pretty insulting things if she's not watching her tongue.

Red and Blue go here if she ever learns to stand up to them.

Leaf has had basically none of this. Seriously. Too busy and depressed as a child and too busy and paranoid as an adult. At the most she's had brief crushes and maybe one or two very short relationships. Super limited romantic experience means she's also probably awkward as hell. You think she's bad 1-to-1 with friends and strangers? Just wait until you try to have a romantic conversation.

Leaf is fairly well known as a public dissenter. A dark horse that came out of nowhere and rose to a place that allows her to direct and draw crowds. So she's likely known by a fair number of people thanks to this role. I don't know. If you can think up a cool plot involving Leaf's work to help people against Team Rocket goons throw it my way and we'll talk. Protags and stuff from other regions are welcome to swap tales of terror with her. Don't talk about Red and Blue tho. She'll get mad.

LEAF. ugh so. love her history. really explains why she'd hate these two nerds for leaving her behind and never checking up on her, or even calling for a quick hello. but in red's defense, he never got her number. he sent her a letter once, or at least hoped that oak passed it along if she ever went back to pallet, but i suppose she never got it, or never found it interesting.

CURRENT TENSE; red is lost in his own mind, doesn't know where to side. news of leaf being in boure has reached even him, and he wants to know why. not to judge, not to critic, but to know because right now, he's torn. cue in awkward stalking/following around until they talk, or the time where leaf yells at red and red takes it like a man.

LEAF okay so in kanto i have helen, who's kind of an administrator in vermillion -- aka one of the most zemina-obsessed cities in the region. she moonlights as pandora, however, who's actually a boure spy; on one hand, there's the fact that leaf is about as anti-zemina as you get, so if they end up meeting there's no doubt helen would recognize her. oh the other, we have the fact that pandora and leaf are of the same faction. she is a spy, though, so i don't think blue would know pandora either, but.

RED Blue Okay, so Leaf literally hates both of you. And hate is being used with all of its weight. She honestly feels like she was abandoned (never even really adopted) by these two. While they went on amazing adventures and did amazing things she did their dirty work that they missed. Still, she's got a really bad inferiority complex when it comes to both of these guys. She's used to be worse than them, and as a result won't stand up to them or even voice all the pain she felt. Now, specifically.

>Red - Leaf is 100% paranoid. She would likely notice Red pretty quick into his stalking because she's always on high alert. When she saw him she'd smile and lie through her teeth about how nice it is to see him. She probably got his letter and promptly tore it up and threw it out. She hates Red even more than Blue since he became champion and then just fucked off and left his post. After the war started she hated him even more for his lack of presence and basically has lumped him in with all the other ex-champs as being useless tbh.

If asked what her reasoning for her alignment was Leaf would probably site their own fight. Kids basically fighting a war on a powerful gang while the champion and the elite four sit by and twiddle their thumbs. While SABRINA just sits in her gym in Saffron. Examples, hate, etc. Would likely make a passive-aggressive jab at how Kanto had elite trainers in the system that did nothing to help.

As for blowing up, that could happen at any time really. Things that would bring it up would be extensive talk about childhood, any kind of comments on her track record as a trainer, um, basically any talk about Red's success. Especially if fans start coming up and requesting his autograph or some shizz. bluh bluh this is really rambly and dumb I'm sorry.

helen zervos This sounds interesting. As the admin of Vermillion Leaf would hate her. Just despise her. Because like you said, anti-Zemina. Pandora on the other hand would be a useful member of the propaganda branch, but yeah she probably wouldn't really make the connection. I don't know honestly. That could go a few ways. Especially since even if Leaf did make the connection the admin of Vermillion and the most public dissenter in Kanto couldn't exactly just chil.

LEAF RED OKAY OKAY so can we all have like a group pow wow because there's a whole lot of angst. I know when blue was trying to become the champ at least initially his goal was like to impress leaf because he caught feelings at like 10.5 and was always like LET ME BEAT RED TO PROVE TO YOU THAT I'M BETTER THAN HIM. because he always assumed you liked red more because he was a gigantic 10 year old jerk ass. I think he still kinda like didn't get over those feelings and looks at her like the one who got away, but he's pretty cool with that. HE'D BE SO IGNORANT WHEN SHE SAYS SHE HATES HIM BECAUSE NOW HE LOOKS AT HIMSELF AS THE PROTECTOR OF THE TWO OF THEM SEEING AS RED HAS ALWAYS BEEN KIND OF A MESS AND YOU WERE NEVER AS STRONG AS THEY WERE PHYSICALLY. I think in the past he'd just like call once a month and be like, Yo is everything cool? no one's harassing you. and his calls probably never got through but he wouldn't really give up. Finding out you were in Boure was a twist and he'd probably wanna know why and maybe that can be the group thread like "YO I THOUGHT WE WERE ALL ON THE SAME PAGE WHAT IS THIS SHIT." and he wouldn't be that blunt or angry he'd be pretty cautious with the subject because he doesn't want to lose either of you but in reality he lost leaf like years ago and having him face that would be amazing. /breaths

Blue I LIKE THIS! I LIKE THIS A LOT! I really do enjoy all this angst. But yeah, Leaf only interacts with Blue and Red if she absolutely HAS to. If they walk up to her and start a conversation she's willing to pretend that she doesn't hate their guts to avoid a battle she's sure she'll lose or an argument they'll overpower her in. So, Blue's phone calls would have been eternally left alone. In fact, she probably left her old phone with her old number at home while she explored the Sevii Islands. So really she probably hasn't talked to them that much since like a year after Red left and Blue became a gym leader.

On the note of Blue and Leaf specifically, I'm gonna be a real. If you wanna put in the work of turning this relationship 180 I will ship with Blue. JS. Kind of an OTP for me. But ANYWAY! There are very few things that could set Leaf off on an honest tangent, but that's definitely one of them. If Blue marched into her life and started imposing his views on her and forcing down this identity and image she's spent a year and a half building after having nothing she'd be pissed. He'd have no choice but to face that she's been gone because she'd spit out some venom before trying to just walk off. That would be a mad thread. I can def see that Blue is probably going to be exposed to her true feelings before Red due to how overbearing is. It'll piss Leaf right off. Like "You let me get beat around and nearly killed several times when we were kids, and NOW you want to protect me". It'll seem so stupid to her. Oh man I love this.

LEAF i'm being lazy about this lma o but i have 15 min left on the clock so screw it. i have tamara, who's a sinnoh general who travels all over the goddamn place apparently, so she and leaf could meet?? they have similar pasts in that eleanor ravensdale never really got to travel and was always patted on the head and asked to stay at home like a Good Girl, while tamara abandoned all that to make her own mark on the world. i think they'd bond over being left behind/second best/etc because now they're both in positions of power and women being strong ye. iunno. i really just wanna thread these two together <3

cynthia on the other hand i think she'd know leaf through red?? like, she really likes people and yeah she's an ex-champion but that's because she doesn't wanna take part in this war gdi. she'd get that leaf hates ex-champs because yeah she essentially abandoned her post but she's always willing to protect the civilians so iunno they'll just be really interesting??

please tell me if i sound odd/awkward/weird because i'm running on minimal sleep and it's almost midnight here lol.

LEAF Is it just me, or would it be SUPER AWESOME if Lyra and Leaf became buddies and swapped stories (Lyra knows what it's like to be left behind by her friends and also has a few Rocket related tales to boot) and eventually urged her to tell the boys how she feels or some such nonsense. She could even be the one who gets her all fired up and encourages her to stand up to them. o.o

tamara I like this. I mean, you've kind of touched all the bases so I don't know what I can add.

cynthia Don't want to take part in the war, abandoning your people, essentially the same thing to Leaf. If you won't fight the league you aren't helping the people. Of course, her willingness to help civilians will get her bonus points, but at the same time her relationship to Red (ESPECIALLY if she meets Leaf through Red) will lose points. If only because she's worried Cynthia will just see her as "Red's Boure Friend". Again, identity is freaking everything to her.

lyra I really like the idea of these two meeting up and swapping stories! At the same time though, do know Leaf is going to see a LOT of Blue and Red in her. The fact that she went toe to toe with more Rocket at its prime. With its new leaders. Collected badges and beat down both the elite four and champion. And then left her post. I know this is starting to sound like a broken record, but Leaf really tends to relate certain things to Red and Blue and as a result view them very negatively.

At the same time, they can empathize on being left behind by friends and their issues with Team Rocket. Leaf can show off some of her old scars and talk about some of the people she helped. Good times.

LEAF I really wish I had something profound and interesting to say, but all that comes to mind is hey here's Pearl and he wants to be everybody's friend.

On the other hand, I also write Hector Grimoire who runs Vermillion City. I imagine that they would get along very, very, very poorly.

LEAF Lyra would totally feel bad every time she mentioned anything that made Leaf feel small and I feel like she'd go to ridiculous lengths to try to make it up to her somehow (even if she couldn't really). That's just how she is. Could be kinda endearing, maybe? Still, I think a slow evolution of these two into good friends could be really interesting (and Lyra would be secretly offended any time leaf seemed to liken her to blue or red and then try to prove her wrong. Lyra is Lyra after all). And, hey, if it doesn't end up going in that direction, that could just as fun. o.o

LEAF ooh. pandora and helen don't look/sound anything alike, though, so i doubt the connection could be made even with a stretch -- but i don't mind threading them as friends or as enemies. whichever you'd prefer, i suppose?

or if you ever need a partner for a mission thread that involves some ~sneakiness~, i'm entirely willing to volunteer pandora for the job.

pearl Pearl seems really interesting! He's really friendly, and the fact that's like his primary trait is something Leaf would really enjoy. Meeting someone who just wants to have lunch and be friends, and isn't some great image of power or expertise -- but is still good, don't get me wrong -- would be really nice for her. I can see these guys being pretty friendly. Maybe have friendly battles from time to time. Maybe tell each other stories of this or that. I don't know, I think they could be cute buddies.

hector grimoire I imagine Leaf has tried to take her hate train to Vermillion on several occasions. Since they're so anti-Zemina she's probably spent a fair amount of time in Cerulean doing demonstrations and speeches, and I think that she'd likely try and make her way down to Vermillion after pretty much every one of these. She basically does a cycle around that are. Hitting up neutral Saffron and its slums, trying to talk to Zemina-aligned Celadon. Always trying to branch in Vermillion aftewards. Hector and Leaf have probably clashed plenty of times over her attempts to enter and convert his city.

lyra I really do think these two will be friends! I just think first impressions and what she's heard will make her a bit reluctant to let her in right away. Because really, she's not going to know about Lyra's issues with being left behind, or the issues with her grandparents, or her own trials with Team Rocket. I actually feel like her interactions with Lyra will help her humanize Red and Blue as she tends to view them as almost supernatural trainers and people. Which means of course that Lyra can be the force that finally gets her to stand up to those two, or maybe even inspire her to give them a second chance. Because really she's always viewed the protag types (Champ, Region Hero, etc) to just be talented people with adoring fans for doing what she views as the flashy work. Once Lyra opens her eyes not only will she like Lyra more, but it could really change her worldview as a whole. If she accepts it.

helen zervos Well, Helen/Leaf will hate each other. See Hector plot for more or less what you can expect. But as Pandora she will be a valued train of information in her propaganda department, and while they probably don't interact too much they'd be friendly and Leaf would be more than happy to take her on missions.

LEAF IMAGINE THIS IS BLUE. I could def work with the whole shipping, but I don't wanna jump into it with that being the goal. I wanna see how they'd react to each other and from there whatever happens happens cause I ship these nerds too, but I don't wanna rush into anything feel me? But yeah imposing his way of life is something Blue would do he wouldn't do it on purpose he'd come in with the goal of understanding and then he could fuck up and begin to impose cause it's just something he does naturally and doesn't really realize it. But how would you like to start a thread. I can see Blue just kinda running into her life seeing as she never answers her phone and is just like I heard you were in the area so I thought we could do coffee or something, and from there it just kinda escalates.
