however, this time things were different. the executives of his company were staunch supports of the bourean ideology and while curtis believed he would simply continue what he had been doing before, he quickly found out how wrong he was. his music, his performance, his identity was now a tool of propaganda. although his stage name had further placed himself away from who he really was, this level of dissonance ravaged his sense of self. he was a puppet and despite his desires to sing for happier days, he became the poster-child for rebellion. curtis was scared. scared of war, scared of being attacked and even worse—of being assassinated. but most of all, he was scared that he was starting to like the chaotic, dangerous mess of it all.
